Why Sleep Training Didn’t Work For Us

“So, why didn’t Sleep Training work for you?”

I’m a sucker. LOL! No seriously, I can’t hear my baby cry and KNOW that I can stop my baby from crying. Like, I can’t. I’m horrible, I know. But in all seriousness, I just couldn’t do it. I tried many times to just lay them there and leave. I couldn’t do it. I mean look at this face!! Could you really let her cry-ti-out?! Could you really let her self-soothe?! NOOOO, duh!! LOL! 🙂

While I do believe Sleep Training has its benefits, it just wasn’t for me. As a mother, you have the RIGHT to choose what is for you and what is not. Judgment FREE! People would tell me…

“Girl, lay that baby down.”

“Let her cry-it-out, she’s ok.”

“You’re going to spoil her.”

When I was pregnant with my second son, Jayden, I was advised to sleep train my oldest son RJ because I was going regret not doing so. Well, guess what?? I don’t regret a single thing nor would I change my stance on Sleep Training. With my boys, I basically had two infants – they are Irish twins. I know, I know! Save the judgment. LOL!! 🙂

When my husband worked third shift, I rocked both boys to sleep at the same time. Talk about being a Mommyhero. Go me! There are tons of myths associated with Sleep Training, many which are complete nonsense. LOL!! Like, you must let your baby cry-it-out or you have to leave your baby alone in a dark room. False, false, false. For me, I chose to let them “grow” into sleeping on their own and soothing themselves to sleep. I just decided to let it “naturally” happen. I didn’t want to force my children to soothe themselves. I felt as if they would learn to self-soothe on their own and when they were ready. I will say my oldest son took the longest to self-soothe and my youngest was a quick learner. She’s two and falls asleep alone in her crib. Kudos to Daddy! 🙂

To Sleep Train or not?! TOTALLY up to you and your family. Whatever you decide just let it be what YOU decide. Don’t feel pressured by other moms or family members to decide either way.

Love you Mommyhero!

Until next time…

YOU ARE STRONG. YOU ARE GREAT. YOU CAN DO ANYTHING.
